Our Policy For Emergencies
Our emergency dentistry policy is simple: we always have someone on call in case of emergency, and we will do everything we can to offer same-day treatment to emergency patients!
If you’re having a dental emergency, we won’t turn you away no matter what time you come in. Emergencies don’t confine themselves to a schedule, so neither do we. When you come see Dr. Jeff Montgomery, you can feel confident even in the midst of a dental emergency.
What is a dental emergency?
The best way to determine whether something is an emergency is by trusting your gut. If you feel like you’re experiencing an emergency, you’re probably right! Always reach out to us as soon as possible if you’re worried about your teeth or gums.
The following are all common examples of emergency dentistry:
- One or more teeth that have been loosened or knocked out completely.
- A tooth that is bleeding heavily.
- Extreme pain in the teeth or gums.
- Painful swelling.
Even if you think you can handle the pain of these problems, don’t wait to be treated! Our team stands by to help you as soon as we can and prevent larger problems down the road.

What should I do during a dental emergency?
The first step is always to call your dentist here at here at Jeff Montgomery DDS. From there, you should take any necessary steps to reduce your pain and make yourself feel comfortable.
If you’re experiencing pain or swelling, it’s a good idea to apply a cold compress to the area. If you’re bleeding, stop the bleeding with a clean piece of fabric or gauze that won’t disintegrate like toilet paper or tissues might.
Whenever possible, bring a knocked-out tooth to the dentist with you. While you wait for your appointment, store the tooth in your cheek or in milk—not water—if possible.
